After some deep thought, a couple cups of french press, a few sleepless nights and 21 years of belting out tunes, I've decided to jump headfirst into the sea of music...for real.
This isn't a decision that is out of the blue for me. In fact, it's like that blaring alarm clock going off for what seems like hours until you finally open your eyes, roll out of bed, and tap the ear-saving button. You knew the alarm was coming, you set it the night before. Actually, you could even say that you went through all of that sleep just so you would be ready when the time came to tap (or pummel) the damn button. And when you do: the sweet relief of silence, encompassing, and almost inviting you to lie down and cuddle your bed a little longer. But you don't (not in this case). Because you have a day to get ready for. And it's a big day.
My big day happens to be a lot of little days glued together. And it's not really a day, more like a decision to really dig in to what I am passionate about, build a foundation, take the time to develop a gift. I am so excited to really invest myself into music: booking shows, writing songs, learning the business side of things, and figuring out a way to support myself with something I love so deeply.
This seems like a really big, messy and out-of-control project to my poor needs-organization brain. So, this blog's purpose (because, obviously, this needs to have an organized purpose) is to document and write about all the steps and adventures that come. This is a lifestyle change--it means eventually quitting the day job, being my own boss, and learning A LOT about A LOT of different things. It means late nights and long drives, big crowds and little intimate ones. It means hard work. It means living off of tips for a bit, eating out less and more salad for sure. It means following joy.
So, here's to rolling out of that bed and finally tapping the button. Thank you for reading, thanks for supporting. And don't forget to book a show! ;)
