Hello Friends!
I'm practically squealing with excitement so I figured I'd get on here and share what's been happening this week! It's all about the small steps forward, but it kinda feels like yesterday had a few leaps involved.
For one, my business cards came in...hence the overstated picture above with my chipped fingernail polish. They are the material kind, firm and solid feeling. Thanks to my roomie Sarah for getting this design up and going on Vista Print, I got 500 for an amazing deal. My goal was for them to be eye-catching yet simple, and room to write more info on it for people who who need that. Unfortunately, I made this website like two days after ordering them, so it's gonna be a while before updated cards come out.
Guys. BUSINESS CARDS.

Guys. BUSINESS CARDS.
Along with handing out snazzy cardboard pieces to people who want info, I also have all the equipment needed to set up, perform, and project sound at all gigs. I realize this seems like a "well duh" for any artist who does shows on a weekly basis, but I've been scraping for the last couple years on others' equipment. Let me tell you, it is the most stressful feeling showing up at a gig not knowing what to expect when it comes to sound set up.
I am in the process of learning about channel mixers, pre amps, EQ's, sound waves, cords, monitors, phantom power, line in line out....the list goes on. But it makes it even more painful to show up and not have what you need to put on a good show, not knowing the basic, and NO ONE knowing the basics. Lets just say that after a couple sound-sob-story gigs, I made it a point to invest in my own equipment. Yay adulting. :)
Tonight will be my first show using a complete sound system (really simple one speaker Bose, vocal processor, and built in mixer) that will have the full adventure of being packed up, unloaded, set up, used, torn down, and trotted back to me casa. An exciting day indeed.
I didn't get where I'm at today without LOADS of help and guidance, so I want to say thank you to everyone who has and is letting me use equipment, giving gigs, and giving endless support...this is made possible by YOU. And I'm so grateful.
Till next time,
Kayla
